Meet Our Team

Stronger together, from planning to harvest.

At GroWest, good agronomy is built on collaboration. Each agronomist brings their own experience, but our real strength comes from working as a team—sharing insight, challenging assumptions, and supporting one another to deliver practical, unbiased advice growers can trust.

Shannon Winny

PAg, CCA, BSA

Owner/Agronomist

Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Ag Business) from the University of Saskatchewan and is a registered Professional Agrologist (PAg.) and Certified Crop Adviser (CCA). Originally from Southern Ontario, she moved to Saskatchewan to pursue her education and quickly built deep roots in the province. Shannon now lives on a farm near Harris, where both her work and family life are closely connected to agriculture.

Shannon founded GroWest Ag Ventures in January 2020 with a clear goal: to provide unbiased, sound agronomic advice that puts growers first. Since then, GroWest has grown into a trusted independent consultancy offering a full range of agronomy services, including variable-rate fertilizer and soil amendments, detailed field scouting, and replicated research trials. The team works alongside some of the largest and most respected partners in the industry, while remaining firmly grounded in practical, field-proven recommendations for local producers.

Shannon takes great pride in the growth of GroWest and the strong team behind it. Building an independent business rooted in trust, transparency, and strong relationships has been central to her vision from the start, and continues to guide the company’s direction.

Outside of work, Shannon enjoys spending time with her family, snowmobiling in the winter, and heading to the lake whenever the season allows.

Ryder Kindt

AAg.

Agronomist

Ryder holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a focus on Horticulture Science from the University of Saskatchewan and is a registered Agricultural Technologist (AAg.). Born and raised in Saskatoon, with strong family ties to the Radisson area, Ryder brings both academic training and local perspective to his work with GroWest.

After joining GroWest in Fall 2022 following graduation, Ryder has become an integral part of the team’s field and research work. His background in horticulture research plays a key role in GroWest’s on-farm trials, where he leads scouting, data collection, and analysis to support practical, field-ready recommendations. Ryder also takes the lead on horticultural projects and is GroWest’s in-house expert on weather stations, helping clients make informed, data-driven decisions.

Ryder was drawn to agronomy for the opportunity to work outdoors and stay closely connected to Saskatchewan’s landscapes. While field crops weren’t the primary focus of his education, time spent scouting fields and soil sampling quickly sparked a passion for agronomy and the steady, seasonal rhythm of the work. For Ryder, there’s nothing better than starting the day with a prairie sunrise or spotting pronghorn fawns while out in the field.

Outside of work, Ryder is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys getting off the grid—whether by quad or canoe—especially when it involves good company or memorable wildlife encounters.

Declan Woloshyn

BSA, AAg.

Agronomist

Declan holds a Diploma in Agribusiness and Crop Technology from Lakeland College and a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness from the University of Saskatchewan. He is a registered Agricultural Technologist (AAg.) and brings a strong blend of technical knowledge and practical field experience to the GroWest team.

Declan joined GroWest Ag Ventures in 2024 and lives east of Saskatoon, working closely with growers across West Central Saskatchewan. He thrives in the field, where his strengths lie in crop scouting, problem-solving, and building strong, trusted relationships with clients. Declan values face-to-face conversations and believes that the best agronomy starts with understanding both the crop and the people behind it.

Declan is drawn to agriculture for its constant evolution. He enjoys seeing new ideas and innovations emerge in the industry and following how they develop into practical tools and practices on the farm. This curiosity helps him stay engaged and forward-thinking in his approach to agronomy, while still keeping recommendations grounded and realistic.

Outside of the field, Declan enjoys spending time on the golf course whenever he gets the chance—a welcome way to unwind and enjoy Saskatchewan’s long summer days.
